The URV's Fibromyalgia Group was created in 2012 and international collaborations with investigators in the United States began shortly thereafter. It arises as a result of more than 30 years of research experience in aspects of integrated health care where psychological and social aspects are incorporated into the biological approach. Our current work aims to understand how stigma, inequality, gender, and other psychosocial factors affect people with fibromyalgia. We hope that our international study team can provide research insights that provide a basis for improving evidence-based care of individuals with fibromyalgia. We aim to contribute to modifying social and health policies for better attention to this condition. The international research consortium includes several fibromyalgia experts from Luther College, Decorah, Iowa (USA); Rovira i Virgili University (Spain), Santa Maria Hospital of Lleida (Spain); Primary Care of Territorial Management of Terres de l'Ebre (Spain), and Mayo Clínic, Rochester, Minnesota (USA).
